B2B LinkedIn Content Strategy for a Specialist Managed DBA Provider
Overview
Two series. One system.
Rather than producing standalone posts, we built two parallel content series that ran simultaneously each week and were deliberately sequenced to work as a single, interlocking system.
Series 1 - Thought Leadership
A 12-part series built around a recurring question format, running under the campaign line: What's quietly putting your database at risk. Each post opened with a direct question targeting a specific concern held by IT directors and technical decision-makers, recovery strategy, sole DBA departure, FCA compliance gaps, 24/7 coverage, database security vetting, and more. The questions were designed to create a moment of self-interrogation, stop the right reader mid-scroll, and create a problem the case study published later that week would then resolve.
Series 2 - Case Studies
Twelve case study carousels published in rotation across Oracle, SQL Server, and IFS Applications, ensuring each segment of the target audience received relevant content at regular intervals. Each case study was rewritten from the client's website into a five-page LinkedIn carousel, structured using professional IT delivery language rather than generic marketing headings:
Background:
Client context, sector, and the nature of the challenge.
The Requirement:
Specific technical and operational requirements the engagement needed to meet.
Implementation:
Approach, methodology, and delivery in precise, credible terms.
End Results:
Measurable outcomes using verifiable facts from the case study.
Outcome:
Forward-looking close with a direct call to action and contact details.
The Pairing Logic
The thought leadership post ran first in the week, raising a specific problem. The case study followed days later, proving it had already been solved for a real client. Each case study post opened with a direct callback to the post published earlier that week:
On Monday we asked what happens to your database when your sole DBA leaves. Here is what happened when one of Europe's leading specialist law firms faced exactly that situation.
For someone who saw both posts, it was a complete sales narrative without reading like one. A problem raised, a solution proved, a credible partner established.
CONTENT DESIGN
Why the posts were built the way they were.
Every decision in the programme served a specific outcome. Thought leadership posts opened with a question in quotation marks because questions create engagement that statements cannot, they invite the reader to form an answer before reading on. Case studies were published as carousels rather than text posts or links because LinkedIn distributes carousels more broadly and each swipe is a micro-commitment that increases the likelihood of reaching the CTA on the final page.
Carousel headings used operational IT vocabulary, Background, Requirement, Implementation, End Results, Outcome, rather than generic marketing language. A technically literate audience is instinctively sceptical of marketing framing, and language that mirrors their own professional vocabulary signals credibility before a word of content has been read. Every claim in every case study was grounded exclusively in verified client material with no embellishment. Every post carried a fixed base of three hashtags, #OracleDBA, #SQLServerDBA, and #IFS, building algorithmic authority across all three verticals simultaneously rather than in isolation.
RESULTS
What the programme delivered.
299 unique visitors were driven to the client's LinkedIn company profile across the campaign period, with clear daily spikes correlating directly with each carousel publication. Profile visits from non-followers are one of the most reliable indicators of inbound intent on LinkedIn, they represent someone who encountered a piece of content, found it credible, and went looking for more. Over 19 weeks, that happened 299 times without a single pound of paid spend.
The wider reach figures support the same picture. 5,024 unique individuals were reached entirely through organic distribution. Total clicks reached 2,791, well above LinkedIn benchmarks for B2B organic content. The highest performing post generated 900 impressions and a 50.7% engagement rate. The sole DBA departure posts produced engagement rates above 45%, the strongest reaction-to-impression ratio in the series.
The audience was the right one. IT professionals accounted for the largest segment of content views, followed by Business Development and Consulting. Senior professionals led by seniority, with Owner, CXO, and Director level individuals making up a significant share of the remaining audience. The programme generated inbound contact from prospects who had engaged with multiple posts before reaching out, demonstrating the compounding effect of consistent, credible content on a specialist audience over time.
Content Strategy
We designed a structured, sequenced content system built around two interlocking weekly series, turning a firm with 30 years' experience but zero LinkedIn presence into a consistent, credible voice in front of its target buyers.
Thought Leadership Copywriting
A 12-part series under the line "What's quietly putting your database at risk," each post opening with a targeted question aimed at IT directors and technical decision-makers to stop the right reader mid-scroll and surface a specific concern.
Case Study Carousel Production
Twelve five-page LinkedIn carousels rotating across Oracle, SQL Server, and IFS Applications, each rewritten from the client's website into credible IT-delivery language (Background, Requirement, Implementation, End Results, Outcome).
Organic Distribution & Reporting
All content was published, sequenced, and tracked entirely organically with zero paid spend, generating measurable results (10,675 impressions, 2,791 clicks, 299 profile visits) reported against LinkedIn B2B benchmarks.
The Challenge
Our client is a UK-based managed database administration firm with over 30 years of experience across Oracle, SQL Server, and IFS Applications. Despite a strong portfolio of client work and deep technical expertise, they had no structured content programme and no consistent presence in the feeds of the buyers they needed to reach. Ascension Marketing was brought in to change that, without any paid spend.
No Existing Presence
Three decades of technical expertise but zero structured content and no consistent visibility in the feeds of the buyers they needed to reach.
Sceptical Technical Audience
IT directors and senior decision-makers are instinctively wary of marketing framing, so anything that read as promotional would be dismissed on sight.
Zero Paid Budget
The entire programme had to reach and convert a specialist audience through organic distribution alone, with no ad spend to lean on.
Three Distinct Verticals
Oracle, SQL Server, and IFS Applications each needed relevant, credible content at regular intervals rather than a single generic message diluted across all three.
